Introduction

Round Blue Dot is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants at our events. This Code of Conduct outlines specific expectations and guidelines for acceptable behaviour. We depend on the active collaboration of all attendees, speakers, sponsors, staff, and volunteers to uphold these principles.

Core Values

  • Inclusivity: We embrace diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, socioeconomic status, and technology choices.

  • Respect: All individuals deserve to be treated with dignity. We strive for a space where everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves and contributing without fear of judgement or marginalisation.

  • Consent: We emphasise the importance of asking for and respecting consent in all interactions, whether professional or personal.

Unacceptable Behaviours

Round Blue Dot has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, discrimination, and actions that undermine our inclusive environment.  Unacceptable behaviours include, but are not limited to:

  • Discriminatory or Demeaning Language: Slurs, stereotypes, jokes, or any speech that targets or degrades individuals or groups based on their protected characteristics.

  • Harassment: Verbal or physical conduct that is unwelcome, intimidating, hostile, or offensive. This includes sexual harassment, bullying, stalking, and persistent unwelcome advances.

  • Exploitation: Exploiting power dynamics or vulnerabilities to coerce, manipulate, or harm others.

  • Disruption of Events: Intentional actions that hinder the smooth running of events, talks, workshops, or social activities.

  • Privacy Violations: Sharing personal information or recordings without explicit consent.

 

Enforcement and Reporting

  • Responsibility: All event participants share the responsibility to report behaviours that violate this Code of Conduct or create a hostile environment.

  • Reporting Mechanisms: If you experience or witness any form of harassment or misconduct, you may report it in the following ways:

    • In Person: Approach a Round Blue Dot staff member (identified by branded uniform) and ask for assistance.

    • Email: Contact info@roundbluedot.com

  • Response: Round Blue Dot will promptly investigate all reports and take appropriate action, which may include:

    • Issuing a formal warning

    • Expulsion from the event without refund

    • Collaboration with law enforcement, if necessary

    • Permanent prohibition from future events

Support Resources

Round Blue Dot will make efforts to provide support for those impacted by misconduct. This could include:

  • A designated safe space and staff member for private conversations

  • Assistance in contacting local support services or authorities

  • Support during and after the reporting process

​

Additional Information

  • This Code of Conduct applies to all event venues, related social activities, and online spaces associated with Round Blue Dot events.

  • We encourage respectful and constructive dialogue, even on challenging topics. Disagreement and debate are acceptable within a framework of mutual respect.
